CEM I : Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)

This type of cement is widely used in construction purposes and comes in the following grades:

-32.5: This grade of cement is used for typical structural work under the usual environmental conditions.

-42.5:This grade of cement is used for plain concrete work and plastering works.

-52.5: This type of cement is not used for ordinary works. It is frequently used for structural purposes as well as in reinforced cement concrete.

CEM II: Portland Cement

Ordinary Portland Cement type II is known as Moderate Heat Cement or Moderate Sulphate resistance cement and contains lower C3A content (>8%). It is appropriate for large-scale structure works, such as dams, bridge beams, and nuclear power plants.

CEM III: Blast furnace Cement

This type of OPC is called Rapid Hardening Cement. It is mostly used where quick construction is needed like pavement construction.

CEM IV: Pozzolanic Cement

It is a type of cement that produce low heat of hydration during the setting. Some chemical composition of the Ordinary Portland Cement type I is revised to decrease the heat of hydration. It is used for the structure of the dam’s large footing, and wind turbine plinths. It is also used for the chemical plants’ construction

CEM V : Composite Cement

Ordinary Portland Cement type V is called Sulphate Resisting Cement. It is used to resist sulfate attacks in concrete. This type of cement also is widely used in effluent treatment plans, Funnel, Chemical industries, water storage, drainage works, Cooling towers, Coastal protective works such as sea walls, foreshore and etc.
